- WinSize v.0.9e (for Windows 95)
-
- -- A taskbar tray application for maintaining window positions --
-
- ** Description:
- This is a program which helps the forgetfull windows remember where you
- want them to be... Simply open the windows whose positions you want to store
- and then doubleclick on the WinSize icon in your tray. You will now see the
- WinSize Windowhandler. It will have a list of the windows currently active.
- Click on a window title and the position of that window will be displayed;
- Now you can tweak the position, if you want to, and then click 'Store'. The
- window position is now stored and will automatically be applied to that
- window anytime it's position changes. In the 'Options' section you can
- disable the 'Auto Apply' feature, but then you have to select a window from
- the 'Active Windows' list and then press the 'Apply Now' button to apply that
- windows position. WINSIZE is not memory intensive - as a matter of fact it
- uses only 460K of memory. The program is pretty easy to use, so just play
- around with it... If you have any problems then feel free to send me an
- e-mail (see below for address).
-
- ** Installation
- Currently it is _not_ equipped with an installation program, but since the
- program only consists of a single executable, simply copy this to any location
-
- ** Uninstallation:
- Just delete the executable, and you're almost there. To completely remove
- it from your system you also need to delete the following entries in your
- registry:
- 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Maxximum\WinSize'
-
- ** Version History:
-
- v.0.9 - First official release.
- v.0.9a - Added the ability to Edit to position and title to match of
- the stored windows.
- Added the ability to toggle whether or not WINSIZE should
- match the entire window title when searching for windows to
- apply positions to. If you disable 'Match Exact Window Title'
- under Options and then Edit a stoed windows title to say:
- 'Exploring', then everytime WINSIZE finds a window that has
- a title beginning with 'Exploring' it will apply that window
- size and position to it.
- Added an 'Erase WinPos' button; It appears when you click on a
- stored window position, and - naturally - it allows you to
- erase a window position from the list.
- Fixed a minor bug: The window positions applied you clicked
- 'Apply Now' and when WINSIZE automatically applied a position
- didn't put the window in the same place, even though the same
- coordinates where spcified. That is fixed now.
- Now saving the Stored Window Positions in the Registry instead
- of the file 'StoredWindows.dat'.
- v.0.9b - WINSIZE v.0.9a should never have been released... By mistake I
- put an old and BUGFILLED version in the zip-file... Sorry.
- This version fixes those problems...
- v.0.9c - Turns out there was a memory leak in the program - that should
- be fixed now... To implement this fix I had to put a
- restriction on the total number of windows it can handle. It
- will only register the first 128 active windows.
- v.0.9d - WINSIZE v.0.9c proved to be very unstable due to the
- alterations made... I am truly sorry for this. This version
- is much more stable. It was due to a fault in my search mechanism,
- that you would get an "internal error" while selecting items in
- the listbox with the most items (either "Active" or "Stored").
- I have fixed that now... Fixed a bug, that caused WINSIZE to
- write an empty entry in the Registry. Also fixed a bug, that made
- it impossible to use the up/down arrows to edit position and size
- to over 100.
- v.0.9e - Okay... Now I found the real cause of the memory leak! This
- time it works... I've had it running for an extended period
- of time without any of my memory decreasing. This version
- fixes nothing but the memory leak bug (which should have been
- fixed in v.0.9d, but slipped away). I am truly, truly sorry
- for this memory leak, but now it works (I hope... One can
- never be sure of these things); I have tested WINSIZE v.0.9e
- over an extended period of time, and I have _not_ experienced
- any memory leak.
-
- All the 0.9x version should be considered as betas for the v.1.0 release!!!
-
- ** Disclaimer:
- These programs have all been tested extensively before being put on the web,
- but should some of them fail Maxximum (that is: Mads Villadsen) takes no
- responsibility what so ever...
- Beta versions available for download are programs which have not been tested
- as much as the final releases and you should therefore be more careful using
- them. They are in no way unsafe, but you never when you might have overlooked
- a bug...
- In short: It's your own responsibility, but I use these programs myself, and
- I have not experienced any problems.
-
- ** Other stuff:
- I would really like to recieve an e-mail from you if you use this program,
- and any suggestions for future improvements will be greatly appreciated (I
- can't promise I'll actually implement any of them, but I'll consider them).
- Just drop me a note at the following adress:

- Looking forward to hearing from you
